The three P’s describe the Chiropractic experience.
Typically, Chiropractic Care has been sought because something hurts. Maybe it’s lower back pain that doesn’t let you sleep, or neck stiffness from work demands, or a headache that just won’t quit. At this stage, you’re in “pain motivation” (The first P).
Pain is a good motivator to bring attention to the body. Initially your Chiropractor will work to reduce muscular tension and increase joint mobility that would otherwise worsen your posture. Then, during your course of Chiropractic Care, when you start feeling better and sleeping better, you’ll also notice how you stand taller, move free-er and feel body movement confidence, again.

That’s when “prevention motivation” kicks in. Instead of just wanting to avoid pain, one looks to maintain their gains (The 2nd P). Mind you, this can be the time when some people opt out of any further care — until, that is, their pain motivates a return. For those who opt for Chiropractic Maintenance Care they’ll realise how minor issues are prevented from escalating to major problems.
Finally, for those motivated by performance, they choose to be supported by their Chiropractor in addressing the bodily impact of their own life responsibilities and others’ expectations and demands placed upon them (The Third P). Of course, not everybody gets to this stage but for those who do, they appreciate seeing real improvements in muscle and joint function each session. Combating the pressure and tension effects of life, from compounding their muscle and joint issues.
During your Chiropractic experience, however far you decide to progress along the P’s, your confidence in how your body moves and feels will be better.
