The Training Effect

During exercise muscles and joints are put under load, directly due to the weight or mass that is to be moved during the exercise and indirectly by facilitating the co-ordinated movement of your body. Don’t forget your body weighs something too. Exercise leads to to the upregulation / healing / repurposing of the body area eg muscles get bigger and bones become more dense. The body responds to what we do with it. During an unhealthy response we simply over do it due to the lack of coordinated strength. An unhealthy response is more likely when leading a sedentary lifestyle where your body compensates rather then coordinate.

If we don’t use it, we lose it – this is where Lee’s hands on therapy comes into help your body in that he can specifically load parts of your body that you can’t (you can’t because your body is in compensation). For example, a body part may be treated as obsolete by the brain as it has not been utilised or a long-standing compensation exists due to over doing it.

Through optimal loading your body can heal, through such activities as Lee’s hands on therapy and your exercise efforts. Without optimal loading injury can linger on for years. It is the compensations the body adopts over time that accumulate into a body normal that is just not straight. A wonky body is usually a sore body.
